After fulfilling his military obligation and graduating from Dartmouth College, Bill began his business career in 1964 with Chubb & Son in New York City. He joined their Surety Department the following year. He served as surety underwriter in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle. In Seattle, as a Senior Underwriting Officer, he underwrote construction surety accounts in the four Northwest states and Western Canada. In 1974 he and his partner established May-Davis, Inc. in Spokane. This agency specialized in the construction industry. In 2008 Bill's agency was acquired by WSI. Bill has served twice on the board of the Inland Northwest chapter of The Associated General Contractors. In 2007, Bill received the Tom Maur Safety Award for his work on the AGC Safety Committee. Bill serves as President of the Board of The City Gate, a local inner-city ministry and is an elder of his church.
